Moon Phases and Rites for spell casting and rituals

Pagans and Witches dearly love their holidays and sometimes go to extremes to celebrate them. But what if they need to cast a particular spell, remove, lessen, or increase some aspect of their life, or if they need to perform a healing ritual, or connect with their personal deity, or ask for protection, energy, insights, or help? All these things can be aligned with the phases of the moon. If you have a particular need, determine what phase the moon is in and write your spell/ritual accordingly.

On this page I've included a run-down of the various moon-phases and what they mean in your life. Keep in mind that one is not limited to following the meanings too rigidly. For example: If you need to bring money into your life and it's the waning moon ask that your bills be removed or that your needs be lessened.
At the end of each explanation I've listed some correspondences that will help you write your own rituals/spells.

Full Moon
Full Moon energy is used for banishing unwanted influences in your life; protection magick; and divination. Planning, releasing, and working backwards in time are done on the full moon as well.

It is said theat the best Full Moon magick can be conjured for seven days: the three days prior to the Full Moon, the night of the Full Moon itself, and three days after the Full Moon. Sometimes the results of Full Moon magick can take aproximatel one moon cycle to take hold and come to completion.*

The Full Moon is the time to invoke the Mother Goddess at the height of her glory, this is when the ceremony called "Drawing Down the Moon" is performed. During this ceremony the energy and essence of the Full Moon is drawn into oneself, when done properly you will feel a heightened trance state combined with a power surge that radiates through your whole body. Traditionally this is only done within a protective circle.

The Mother is the ripeness of womanhood, the boiling pot of Badb which is the richness of life. Her color is red, the color of blood and the life force. The Mother is Summer, the day, lustiness, teacher, The Full Moon

New Moon

The New Moon is used for personal growth, healing, the blessing of a new project or venture, etc. If done correctly, success should be obtained by the first Full Moon.*

This is the time when the Crone is transformed into the Maiden. It is a time of renewal and new beginnings.

The Maiden is essential to the continuation of all life; her color is white, denoting innocence and newness. She is the springtime, the dawn, eternal youth and vigor, enchantment and seduction, the new and waxing moon.

Dark Moon
The three days before the New Moon is known as the dark of the moon. This is when you can't see the moon at all in the heavens. Traditionally, this is a time when no magick is performed. It is a period to give yourself a break; a time of rest. Deep meditation and vision questing can be performed now, but not for a specific magickal purpose. However, The Crone, or the Dark Mother, rules this time, and if her magick is needed, now is the time when you should use it.

Waxing Moon
The period between the New Moon and the Full Moon is called the Waxing Moon. This is a good time for attraction magick, especially between the New Moon and the First Quarter.*

The Waxing Moon is the time for invoking the Goddess in her guise of Maiden.

Wanning Moon
The period between the Full Moon and the New Moon is called the Waning Moon. This is a time for banishing and rejecting things in our lives that we no longer wish to carry around with us. Negative emotions, bad habits, diseases, and ailments can successfully be banned during this time.

During the Waning Moon the Mother Goddess is transformed into the Crone. Invoke Her in this guise.

The Crone, or Dark Mother, sometimes called the Hag, has black as her color, the color of darkness where all life rests before rebirth. This aspect of the Goddess is Winter, night, wisdom, counsel, the gateway to death and reincarnation, the Waning Moon.

A dish full of earth (good soil, not dry, dusty dirt).

A yellow candle A full-sized mirror

Olive, patchouli, jasmine, or cinnamon essential oil

A small flower pot A flower or plant seed

Anoint the candle with the essential oil you have chosen.

Place it in the center of the dish of earth.

Light it and sit down with it between you and a mirror.

What is a psychic or clairvoyant scam?

A psychic or love spells scam can come to you in many ways: through the post, in an email, by a telephone call or even face-to-face. There are a few different versions, but all of the scammers want to trick you into giving them your money.

Generally, a psychic or clairvoyant scam will claim to know that you are in some sort of trouble and offer a solution. This ‘solution’ could be some winning lottery numbers, a lucky charm or the removal of a ‘curse’ or ‘jinx’. The scammer will tell you that they will help you in return for a fee.

These kinds of scams can also result in you being approached by lottery scams (shortly after the psychic has sent you a list of winning lottery numbers, you receive a letter telling you that you’ve just won a lottery you’ve never heard of and do not remember entering).

Scammers may also try and talk you into buying their ‘secret of wealth’ or other plans or ‘insights’ that they claim will bring you good fortune and money. The scammers make money by charging you to claim your lucky charm or secret of wealth, and sending you a worthless item in return, or nothing at all.

Psychic Scams

Unfortunately there are "psychics" who are con artists and are only after your hard earned money. Of course, these fakes do not know what in the heck they are doing. These scums usually show up on the #900 Psychic lines and have little or no talent in divination. Normally they read from a script and their sole purpose in life is to keep you on the line so they can make more money. Now I am not saying that all Psychic hotlines are that crooked - just most of them. Come on - Miss Cleo - think about it folks! The only psychic she has ever be involved with is that of her marketing team who informed who she was going to be rich by ripping off people.

There are a few suggestions for you to consider to see if you are involved in a
psychic scam:

* There is negative energy around you and for $XXX I will remove it! This is also applied to curses and if they "see" a bad event about to happen to you and you can pay them to stop it.

* There is a curse on you and your family - bring me all of the money you have. It is the money that is cursed and I need to do a spell on the actually money to make the curse disappear! All that is going to disappear is your hard-earned cash!

* Another popular one is that they will contact someone who is dead for you and then in the middle of their “conversation” they lose touch and it will take $x to bring that person back into focus. Oh – and I love when they say you better be quick because there is an important message for you.

* They tell you not to make a decision without consulting them first!

Egyptians argue over reported damage to Pharaonic statue

CAIRO -- Egyptian culture minister Farouk Hosni ordered a probe on Tuesday into reports about mysterious damage to a Pharaonic statue during restoration work at the Egyptian Museum.

He asked Attorney General Maher Abdel Wahid to investigate the matter, the official MENA news agency reported, only hours after the country's top antiquities official dismissed the reports as being unfounded.

The Egyptian press, quoting museum officials, had reported that a statue of Khafre (2576-2551 BC), the fourth dynasty king and builder of the second pyramid at Giza, had been found damaged in the basement.

Secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Zahi Hawass refuted the reports in a statement received by AFP, saying that they were "untrue".

He said that the statue that the press described was small and bore no inscriptions to suggest that it was of Khafre.

"This statue is in good condition and was never damaged since its discovery in 1988 west of the pyramid of King Khafre and transferred to the Egyptian Museum," the statement said

But Hosni insisted that he was determined to find the officials responsible for wrecking the treasure, ignoring his subordinate's denials.

A few weeks ago officials announced the disappearance of three artifacts from the museum basement, which houses thousands of pieces of priceless treasures from different periods.

Many other artifacts have similarly vanished from high-security sites around the country, some of them eventually traced to international antiquities dealers.

In early August a Cairo court sentenced seven Egyptians to jail terms of up to 55 years in the biggest antiquities smuggling case in the country's history.

The prosecutions followed the seizure of a cache of more than 600 artifacts from the time of the Pharaohs at London's Heathrow airport.

Egypt's ancient treasures are a main tourist attraction in the multibillion-dollar industry, one of the country's main foreign currency earners.

How to heal a broken heart?

1. Avoid the former love. Yes, avoid. No, this isn’t being immature. Seeing your former flame can bring out emotions and may cause you do to or say something you will regret. In the first few weeks the best thing you can do for yourself is not be where you know they will be.

2. Talk out your feelings with close friends. Get everything out so that you won’t hold it inside. Your friends may get sick of hearing you talk about the situation but you need to let out all your feelings and thoughts or they may come back to bite you later.

3. Cry if you want to. It’s OK to cry over a loss. Don’t hold back, let the tears roll just do it in a safe and private place where it is unlikely to get back to your ex. You don’t want your tears to be used as a guilt trip. Their purpose is to cleanse you of any pain not make your lover come back.

4. Let go of mementos. Put away or give away anything and everything that reminds you of the relationship. Hide them out of sight so they will be out of mind until you are able to remember the relationship without longing for it to still be going strong.

5. Don’t slip up and get together with your ex. When you are feeling sad or missing a relationship it can be very easy to fall back in to the arms of your ex but DO NOT DO THIS. This will only set you back and let’s face it, if things ended the relationship wasn’t perfect to begin with so why would you want to rekindle things?

6. Focus on all the things about your ex that drove you crazy, turned you off, or that you just plain found annoying. Think about these things often and replay them in your mind over and over. Dwell on them. It will make you feel better to remember that your former flame was not perfect and that there are things you won’t really miss.

7. Think about the mean, cruel or rude things your ex may have done in your relationship. Really give these things play in your memory. Remind yourself that somebody who truly cared for you would not have done such thoughtless things and tell yourself (over and over) that you are better off without that kind of ego crushing behavior in your life.

8. Maintain a strict no contact policy and stick with it. Don’t pass notes through friends. Don’t make any calls. Stay away from instant messaging or texting on your cell. Just don’t contact your ex until you are totally and completely sure you no longer want to be with him or her. It is the only way.

Mending a broken heart is not easy but it can be done. Just stick to the game plan outlined above and before you know it you’ll be just fine. Good luck!
